Riverside cottage is located in a beautiful, serene, woodland area of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The cottage is set in a beautiful green area of natural beauty surrounded by neat well trimmed lawns. The cottage is surrounded with nice shrubbery and trees in countryside surroundings with abundant wildlife and having fantastic views
There are quite tame ducks and geese on the nearby riverbanks which really do expect you to feed them on a daily basis. We used to have one goose that actually ‘tapped’ on the patio door window with its beak to get your attention! It always expected a free ‘nosh up’ of bread or whatever else we had at the time. Sadly we think this one has now died (or hopefully moved on) as we haven’t seen it for some time but there are still many others close by.
This well presented self catering holiday cottage overlooks the flowing River Esk which meanders by literally just a few metres away.

Riverside Cottage has its own private balcony with table and seating. You can sit out in the sun, possibly with a nice glass of tasty wine, watching the river flow downstrean and the world drift on by.
There is ample free car parking just outside the cottage
The area is dominated by the old but now disused former Victorian railway Viaduct. The Viaduct is a great way to walk into Whitby centre. This has the benefit of ensuring a safe walk, away from traffic, great for those with kids.
The views from the top of the viaduct are amazing. You can even walk to Scarborough if you go in the opposite direction
